A branch is a physical location that raises and fulfils orders —
typically a store, warehouse or office. OJ Setup → Product Setup → Company
Branches
holds the branch list on the left; everything on the right belongs to whichever
branch is selected. Exactly one branch is flagged as the main office.

What, where, who, when, why

What The create/edit screen for branches: code, description and
contact details, the default Goods Warehouse, and the pane linking warehouses to
the branch.
Where OJ Setup → Product Setup → Company
Branches
.
Who An administrator, usually once at setup; the concept behind it
is How branches work.
When Before creating users or warehouses (both hang off a branch),
and whenever the company opens or closes a location.
Why it matters The branch stamp decides whose order it is, which
number sequence it gets and which stock it draws from by default. A branch with a wrong
Goods Warehouse silently sources from the wrong pile.

Creating and editing a branch

Click New, fill in the Details pane and Save. Code and
Description are the only required fields — the rest (reference, building, phone, tax
and pricing fields) is optional and can be filled in later. The Goods Warehouse combo
sets which warehouse this branch’s stock is drawn from by default.

Worked example — opening a branch in another city

Step Where Value Why
1 New → Details Code WEST, Description “West
Side Store”
Code and Description are the only required fields —
the branch can exist before its phone numbers do.
2 Details → Goods Warehouse West Stock Orders raised
at WEST draw from West Stock by default instead of the main plant’s
warehouse.
3 Warehouses pane → Add West Stock, West Ship Area Links the warehouses this branch may use; the ship-area warehouse shows
YES in the Ship area column because the flag is set on the warehouse
itself.
4 Save — The main-office flag stays on the original
branch — exactly one branch carries it, and it did not move.
5 Afterwards Assign people: users via User Management, reps via
Sales Reps
This screen never assigns people; it only owns the branch record
and its warehouse links.

Assigning warehouses

The Warehouses pane lists the warehouses linked to the selected branch. Click
Add to pick from the warehouses not already linked to this branch, or select a row and
click Remove to unlink it. The warehouses themselves — their names, locations and
settings — are maintained on Stock Management, not here; this pane only links them to
a branch.

A shipping area is not a separate thing
There is no separate setup step for a “shipping area”. It is simply a warehouse that
has its shipping-area flag turned on, wherever that warehouse is maintained. The
Ship area column on this pane shows YES for any linked warehouse flagged that
way.
A branch with warehouses cannot be deleted
Delete is blocked while any warehouse is still linked to the branch. Remove every
warehouse from the Warehouses pane first, then delete the branch.

Where people are assigned to a branch

This screen only manages the branch record and its warehouses. People are assigned to a
branch on their own screens, not here:
