How Can We Help?
Every customer has a Type (what kind of business it is) and a Status
(whether you may trade with it now). Both are chosen on the customer’s More pane in
Customer Service → Customer Management. There is no screen to edit the type or status lists
today; your OpenJanela administrator sets them up.
Customer types
| Setting on the type | What it does |
|---|---|
| Description | Name in the Type combo (e.g. Customer, Dealer, Sundry). |
| System type | The built-in kind behind the name. Sundry (walk-in / cash sales account) is special: the user starting a quote becomes its sales rep if they are a rep, no credit limit is stored or checked, and each sale can create its own cash customer record. |
| Prospect | Orders cannot be placed for a prospect: “Order(s) cannot be placed for Prospects”. Quotes are allowed. |
| Dealer | Turns on the dealer fields of the customer form (Use Dealer EDI, Allow Active Notes). |
| Is supplier | The type is listed in supplier screens instead of Customer Management. |
| Allowed cancellation period | Working days. A task created for the place order action is due this many working days ahead (0 = the task type’s own lead time). The value is also passed to the scheduler when an order is scheduled. |
| Orders, quotes, service, projects, company | Used only when customers are imported from Odoo, to pick a type. They do not decide which documents you may create — the status does. |
Customer Management lists the types that are not suppliers and not leads; Lead Management lists the
lead types.
Customer statuses
| Setting on the status | What it does |
|---|---|
| Normal | Only a normal status lets an order be placed. Otherwise: “Failed to Process Selected Documents. Customer Status = …”. |
| Inactive, Hold, Pending | Any of these refuses a new quote or order: “Customer Status is not active.” A customer saved with an inactive status is also marked inactive. Service orders can still be started for a pending customer. |
| Quotes, Orders, Projects, Service | Which new documents are allowed. Example: a status with Quotes on and Orders off allows new quotes but refuses new orders. Service orders started from the service screens do not look at the Service flag; they only need a Normal or Pending status. |
| Lead | The status belongs to Lead Management (lead pipeline) instead of the customer Status combo. |
| Sequence, colour | Order and colour of the lead status buttons in Lead View. |
| Credit hold | Stored; no effect found in the current version. A credit-hold status blocks work only through its other flags. |
Example set of statuses
| Status | Flags | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | normal, quotes, orders, projects, service | Everything allowed. |
| Pending Approval | pending | No new quotes or orders; cannot place. |
| Hold – Credit | quotes only, credit hold | New quotes allowed; new orders refused; cannot place. |
| Inactive | inactive | Nothing new. |
Where the checks runStatus is checked when a quote or
order is started and again when it is placed. Changing a customer to Hold does not change
quotes and orders already open, but they cannot be placed until the status is normal again.
