Every line item carries an Install flag. Only flagged items go on the
installation ticket, so you can sell a unit on an install job without scheduling it for
installation. The flag is not ticked by hand: it follows the series’ Install option.

Setting up the Install option

In OJ Setup > Options, open the option that asks whether the unit is installed
(for example Installation: No / Yes), press Edit, tick Install option and
Save. Flag one option per series; if a series uses more than one flagged option,
the first one found on the item decides. Use a choice option (a list of answers): a text
or size input never counts as installed.

A change to the flag applies at once: your item designer reloads the options for the next
item you open, and the web configurator for its next design. Other users already logged in get
it at their next login.

How the flag is worked out

The item’s options Install flag
Include a flagged option answered 0 Not installed
Include a flagged option with any other answer Installed
Include no flagged option Follows the order’s job type: installed
when the job type installs, otherwise not

The flag is worked out each time the item is saved: from the item designer, the web
configurator, Recalculate or Global Change. To change it, change the answer of the Install
option on the item. Items saved before the option was flagged keep their stored flag until
they are saved again.

What it does to the installation ticket

  • The installation ticket is built when you Confirm the order (not at Place Order),
from the flagged items only. If no item is flagged, no ticket is created.
  • In the Confirm dialog, the Services tab lists each installation ticket’s
items. The ✕ beside an item removes it from the ticket and unflags the
item. Recalculate keeps your choices; Cancel discards them.
  • Deleting a line from an installation ticket (in the ticket form) also unflags the
item. Deleting every line saves an empty ticket.
  • A confirmed item cannot be edited, so its option answer never overwrites those choices.
Reverting the order to a quote makes the items editable again; the next save of an item
works its flag out again from the Install option.
  • Tickets already In Progress or later are never changed by the flag.
  • Measurement tickets and service-order tickets are unaffected: they still carry every line.

Parts that trigger services

Three part types in an item’s bill of materials switch services on by themselves,
whatever the job type says:

  • Type 51 (Install): the item is flagged for the installation ticket.
  • Type 50 (Measure): a measurement ticket is created, and it blocks Confirm
    until the measurement is completed.
  • Type 9 (Labor sub-contracted): Confirm creates a purchase requisition for the part,
addressed to the part’s default supplier. No default supplier, or no stock record,
means no requisition. Tenants connected to Odoo do not get it (Odoo owns purchasing).

To drop an installation ticket line, untick it on the Services tab of the Confirm
dialog. Measurement ticket lines cannot be unticked there.
