How Can We Help?
A station is one work step on a line. Stations are set up under Administration and Setup
→ OJ Setup → PRODUCTION → Production Stations: the list is on the left, the form on the
right (New / Edit / Save / Cancel / Delete). Only Description is required. Put a station on a line
with Line-Station Routing; its shop-floor screens are set up as
Station Views.
What, where, who, when, why
| What | One form per station: its capacity per shift, whether it is a bottleneck (the only stations that limit scheduling), its cart behaviour on sub-lines, the Optimized cut-list flag, its save directory for machine files, and department grouping. |
| Where | Administration and Setup → OJ Setup → PRODUCTION → Production Stations. Saws per station live on Saws; putting the station on a line lives on Line-Station Routing. |
| Who | Whoever sets up production. Operators see the station as a name in views and on printed cut lists, never this form. |
| When | Before the first batch through the station; when throughput changes (Capacity); when a station gets a saw (Optimized) or becomes the routing target for service parts. |
| Why it matters | Scheduling only counts bottleneck stations, and only at their Capacity (times the shift window’s %). A station left off bottleneck never delays an order; one flagged bottleneck with a too-small capacity delays everything. |
Capacity & Slots
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Capacity | How much work the station can take per shift, in capacity units. A shift offers Capacity × that shift’s Capacity % (from the Shift screen); medium- and high-priority orders may use the full Capacity. |
| Bottleneck (Flags) | Only bottleneck stations limit the schedule. A unit’s capacity need is the quantity of capacity-type parts in its bill of materials that sit on bottleneck stations, times the number of units. A station that is not a bottleneck never delays an order. |
| Cart Size | Used only on lines with Has Sub-Lines: the units going to this station are put in carts of this size (balanced evenly). 0 = the station is skipped and its units get no cart or slot. |
| Batch Sequence | On lines with Has Sub-Lines, the order in which stations get their carts. |
| Min Slot # / Max Slot # | Same as on the line: Min Slot # above 0 numbers slots on from that value (sub-line batching only); Max Slot # is not applied. |
| Report Rounding | Stored; no effect found in the current version. |
Flags
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Optimized | On: this station’s cut list is run through the bar optimizer using the station’s saw settings (see Saws). Off: a plain, non-optimized cut list is built when the batch is released, if the station has a parts report assigned. |
| Buffer | On lines with Has Sub-Lines, take cart and slot numbers from the Station Buffer table instead of numbering carts 1, 2, 3. |
| Service Parts | The station that service-part orders are routed to: the unit, kit, labour and gas parts picked on a service item (and their parent assemblies) are put on this station. Flag one station only — the first one found is used. |
| Is Department / Department | Makes this record a department (a group of stations), or puts a station under a department. The Production Status Board and Production Control Board count a department as the sum of its member stations. |
| Paperless | Stored; no effect found in the current version. |
on the Saws screen; without it, building the optimized cut list fails.
Files
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Save Directory | Folder where this station’s machine export files (saw, welder, glass and grid machine files) are written. If the report itself has its own save directory, the report’s folder is used instead. |
| Machine File, View ID | Stored; no effect found in the current version. The machine and directory a shop-floor view writes to are set on the Station View. |
| Comments | Free notes. |
Inventory
Warehouse and Location can only be picked while Line Stock is ticked; with Line Stock
off they are saved empty. Line Stock, Warehouse, Location, Ship, Ship Warehouse and Building # are stored;
no effect on stock or shipping was found in the current OpenJanela screens.
Active
Untick to mark a station inactive. Inactive stations still show in this list and can still be added
to a line on Line-Station Routing.
Worked example — a weld station and a parts station
| Field | “Weld” | “Parts” | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capacity / Bottleneck | 250 / on | 400 / off | Weld is the line’s real constraint: with a Shift window at 80%, scheduling offers 250 × 80% = 200 units of room per shift there. Parts never delays an order, so it is not a bottleneck. |
| Optimized | off | on | Parts gets an optimized cut list — and must have a row on Saws (blade, kerf, grip) or batch release fails. Weld keeps the plain cut list. |
| Service Parts | off | on | Service-order parts (unit, kit, labour, gas) are routed to Parts; flag it on exactly one station. |
| Save Directory | — | \\server\machine\parts | Parts’ machine export files land there at batch release; a report’s own save directory overrides it. |
| Is Department / Department | under “Fabrication” | under “Fabrication” |
The boards then show Fabrication as the sum of both. |
