A sales team groups sales reps of one branch under a team
leader
. Teams are set up in Sales Management → Sales Team Management. Teams
decide which reps are offered on a customer (by the customer’s address) and what a team leader
is allowed to see.

What, where, who, when, why

What A named team of reps of one branch with a leader, a shared e-mail
alias, its own calendar and an optional list of product series.
Where Sales Management → Sales Team Management. Membership is
edited here or from the rep’s own Sales Team button.
Who Sales management. Reps themselves never edit their teams.
When When a branch splits its sales area; when a new rep must become
selectable for customers in an area; when a leader changes (a rep leading one team cannot lead
another).
Why it matters Team membership is what filters the customer’s
Sales Rep list (teams serving the customer’s ship-to branches) and what gives a team
leader visibility of members’ customers and documents.

The screen

The left-hand list shows the teams with their leader. Administrators and sales/marketing
leaders see the teams of every branch; other users see only their own branch’s teams. Deleted
teams are hidden. The buttons on the right:

Button What it does
Details The team record (fields below).
Calendar The team’s working calendar (weekend days, timetable, holidays, exceptions).
Sales Team The Team Members panel: Edit, move reps between the two lists, Save. The New button on this panel opens the Sales Person form to create a brand-new rep (see Sales people setup).
Series The Team Series panel: Edit, move product series between the two lists, Save.

Details — fields and validation

Field What it does
Branch (required) The team’s branch. Defaults to your branch (or the main office) on New, where only administrators and sales/marketing leaders can change it; locked on Edit.
Resource (required) Resource type from the shared list. Locked on Edit.
Team Leader (required) A rep of that branch who does not already lead another team. Saving also makes the leader a member of the team.
Name (required) The team name.
Email Alias (required) A shared e-mail address for the team. Stored with the team.
Start Operations (required) The date the team started. Stored with the team.
Notes Free formatted notes.

Missing values stop the save with Branch Required!, Resource TypeRequired!,
Team Leader Required!, Name Required!, Email Alias Required! or
Operation Start Date Required!. Delete asks Delete Record? and marks the
team deleted.

Team Members

The left list (candidates) shows reps of the team’s branch who are not leading a team; the
right list holds the members. Moving a rep out and saving removes the membership; moving one in
adds it. A rep can belong to several teams — this can also be managed from the rep’s own
Sales Team button on Sales Partner Management.

Worked example — an “East” team

Field / step Value Why
Details Branch = Main, Resource = Sales Team, Team Leader = Jane Roe, Name =
“East”, Email Alias = east@company.com, Start Operations = today
All six are
required; Jane must not already lead another team, and saving adds her as a member too.
Team Members Move in Jane, John, Sue Only these three are offered on the
Sales Rep list of customers served by the Main branch’s teams in the team’s area.
Leader visibility   Jane, at login, is treated as a team leader:
she sees team members’ customers and documents without being an administrator.
Series (optional) left empty The Team Series list is stored only in this
version — it does not restrict what the team can sell.

What teams change elsewhere

Where Effect
Customer Sales Rep list The reps offered are the members of the sales teams of the branches that serve the customer’s ship-to address. See Sales people setup.
Who is a team leader At login, a user who is the Team Leader of a team is treated as a sales team leader.
Lead Management and Lead View A team leader who is not an administrator, view-all user or sales/marketing manager is meant to see the leads of their own branch whose rep is a member of a team they lead.
Known issue — team-leader lead lists
In the current version the team filter of the Lead Management / Lead View lists is built with an
unbalanced bracket, so for a team leader (who is not an administrator, view-all user or
sales/marketing manager) these lists can fail to load. Administrators and plain sales reps are
not affected.

Team Series

The candidates are the active product series not yet on the team. The list is stored with
the team; no screen, report or calculation was found that uses it in the current version, so it
does not restrict what the team can sell.
