The screen for creating and editing an inventory part. One tabbed screen with a single
Save that persists the record together with its suppliers and warehouse locations in one
transaction (all-or-nothing).

What, where, who, when, why

What The create/edit screen for an inventory part: header (code, UOMs,
family, reorder points), costing/pricing, its supplier rows and the warehouses it lives in.
Where The Stock Management screens’ part editor (new inventory
interface). The part record itself is the same one edited on
OJ Setup → Parts — this screen is the inventory-oriented
editor.
Who Inventory staff. Qty On Hand is read-only here — it moves
only through receipts, adjustments and transfers.
When When a part becomes stocked; when its reorder point, suppliers or
locations change. Not for bulk cost updates — use
the spreadsheet import.
Why it matters Requisitions, allocation and receiving all read these rows:
no supplier row = no purchase, no warehouse row = nowhere to receive, and a reorder point set as
a Matrix recalculates itself instead of going stale.

Tabs

1 · Header

  • Identity: Stock Code (required), Description (required), the Stocked / Ext. Process / Issue to PL / Kanban flags, image and attributes.
  • Units of measure: Stock UOM (required), Usage UOM, Costing Method, Metric↔Imperial conversion.
  • Classification: Type, Family, and a single ABC classification.
  • Stock levels (read-only): On Hand, On Order, Allocated, WIP, Available. Qty on Hand cannot be edited here — it changes only through receipts, adjustments and transfers in other screens.
  • Reordering: Reorder Point and Min Stock each have a Value / Matrix radio (type a number, or pick a matrix that returns it), plus Safety Stock and Auto-Restock.
  • Notes at the bottom.

2 · Costing / Pricing

  • Costing: Cost Group; Cost with a Matrix checkbox (when on, the cost comes from the matrix and the fields become read-only); Avg Cost and Act Cost (read-only).
  • Pricing: Price Group; Price with a Matrix checkbox; Min Price (read-only).

3 · Suppliers (at least one required)

  • A part can have several suppliers; each appears in the list on the left.
  • To add: pick a supplier, fill the required fields (UOM, cost, lead time, …), click the row Save (✓). Click New to add another; mark one as the default.
  • Save is blocked until at least one supplier exists.

4 · Warehousing (at least one required)

  • Click New, choose a warehouse, enter on-hand qty (location / rack / bin as needed). Set one row as the default-issue location.
  • The (warehouse, location, rack, bin) combination must be unique per row.
  • Save is blocked until at least one location exists.

Save behaviour

One Save validates the Header, the Suppliers tab (≥1) and the Warehousing tab (≥1),
then commits the record + supplier rows + warehouse rows in a single transaction. If anything
fails, nothing is saved (full rollback) and the screen stays editable. The
Qty On Order shown on the Stock Management list is computed from open, confirmed
purchase-order lines — it is not entered here.

Worked example — stocking a seal roll

Tab Value Why
Header Stock Code SEAL-5MM, Stocked ticked, Stock UOM = Roll, Family = Seals,
Reorder Point = Value 4, Min Stock = Value 2, Auto-Restock on
The part appears in stock
screens; when Available drops to 4 a requisition is suggested, never below 2.
Costing / Pricing Cost Group = Seals, Cost 38.50 (Matrix off), Price Group =
Seals, Price 61.50
Priced from the part itself; tick Matrix only if a
matrix should own the number.
Suppliers Supplier “Gaska”: UOM Roll, cost 38.50, lead time 10 days,
default √
Save is blocked without at least one supplier; the default is the one
purchase orders pick.
Warehousing Main Plant / Aisle A / A1 / A1-03, qty 0, default-issue √ Receipts land there and issues are taken from there; the combination must be unique.
