Create and change cost groups in OJ Setup → Product Setup → Cost Groups. The list on
the left shows each group’s ID and Description; the selected one is shown on the right. Open
How a cost group works at the top of the screen for a short explanation, and hover any ⓘ for help on
one field. What every value does to a cost, with worked examples, is in
Cost groups and price groups.

What, where, who, when, why

What The create/edit screen for cost groups: length rounding
(inches and mm), area rounding, and minimum area applied when material costs are
computed.
Where OJ Setup → Product Setup → Cost Groups.
Who Estimating/costing — the same people who care why a
1/8″ over-cut is billed.
When At setup, once per material family (extrusion vs glass vs
miscellaneous); rarely afterwards — rounding policy is stable.
Why it matters Cost groups decide how a part’s raw usage is
rounded up before costing — scrap-friendly rounding protects margin, aggressive
rounding understates cost on every part in the group. Worked math is in Cost groups and price groups.

Working with the screen

  1. Click New to add a group, or select one and click Edit.
  2. Fill in the fields below and click Save; Cancel drops your changes.
  3. To remove a group, select it and click Delete. A group still used by parts, part families, glass (SU)
types or door slabs cannot be deleted; the message lists how many of each still use it.
Field What it does
Description The name shown in the Cost Group combos. Required and unique.
Length rounding (in) Imperial items: each length is rounded up to the next multiple of this
many inches (24.5 with 2 becomes 26). 0 = none. Whole numbers only.
Length rounding (mm) Metric items: each length is rounded up to the next multiple of this
many millimetres (1,234 with 100 becomes 1,300; 1000 = next metre). 0 = none. Whole numbers only.
Area rounding None, Up to whole, Down to whole (glass only) or
Nearest even (glass only). For parts other than glass costed by area, Up to whole rounds up to the next
whole sq ft / m².
Min area (sq ft / m²) Smallest area charged for parts costed by area. Not used for glass:
set glass minimums on the glass type.
When a change takes effectA change applies to every part and
glass type in the group. OpenJanela loads the groups when a user logs in, so users who are already logged in see
it after they log out and back in. Existing order lines keep their cost until they are recalculated.
