The Pricing Group screen holds a customer’s line discounts plus several
company-wide pricing lists. Open it from Customer Service → Customer Management, pick the
customer, then press the Pricing Group button. It has five collapsible panes. Only two of them
belong to the customer you opened; the other three are global lists shared by every customer.

What, where, who, when, why

What Five panes in one screen: this customer’s pricing-group links and line
discounts, the global customer-group list, the global group line discounts, and the global parts
family list with its markups and include/discountable switches.
Where Customer Service → Customer Management → (pick customer)
→ Pricing Group
. Despite living behind a customer, three of its five panes are company-wide
— there is no other screen for them.
Who Whoever manages pricing. Salespeople see only the result: a discount
appearing on their customer’s lines.
When When a dealer group is created; when a customer or group earns a line
discount (or a dated promotion starts/ends); when a part family’s markup or discountable flag
changes.
Why it matters These rows are what line-discount
pricing
matches against — a customer with no row, or a row whose To Date is still
today, pays full price. The parts-family Discountable switch is the master off-switch that
exempts a whole family from every discount here.

The five panes at a glance

Pane Scope What it holds
Pricing Group This customer A list of price groups linked to the customer. Stored only: no pricing code reads this list in
the current version. The price group used for a line comes from the part or option itself (see
Cost & price groups).
Partners Group Global The list of customer groups (the Group field on the More pane of the customer form).
Partners Line Disc. This customer Line discounts for this customer only.
Partners Group Line Disc. Global Line discounts for every customer in a group. All groups are shown, not just the customer’s group.
Parts Family Global Every part family, with its price/cost markups and the include and discountable switches.

Buttons

The screen opens read-only. Press Edit (unlock icon) to unlock all five tables and the
small buttons above each one. Save (disk icon) writes all five panes at once. Cancel
(stop icon) asks for confirmation and reloads everything. The small buttons are icons only:

Icon What it does
+ (New) Adds a row. New line-discount rows start with every list set to
No Selection, Var 1 / Var 2 / Discount at 0, and both dates set to today.
Copy Adds a copy of the selected row.
Trash (Delete) Removes the selected row from the table. In Partners Group a
saved group is not removed: it is marked Deleted. In Parts Family the row only
leaves the table: Save does not delete the family from the database.
Up arrow (Export) Line-discount panes only. Writes the rows in the table to a CSV file (see below).
Down arrow (Import) Line-discount panes only. Adds rows from a CSV file to the table (see below).

Partners Group (customer groups)

Column What it does
Partners Group The group name.
Lead (CRM) Ticked: the group is offered in the lead form’s Group list.
Unticked: it is offered in the customer form’s Group list.
Default and Branch When OpenJanela is launched from an outside
program and creates a sundry customer automatically, it first looks for a non-lead group whose
name equals the job type it was given.
If there is none, it uses the group ticked Default for that branch.
Deleted Hides the group from the Group lists.

A customer’s Group is used by group line discounts,
price markup lookup rows and Flash
Discount
rows.

Line discount panes

Both panes have the same columns: Series, Item Type (No Selection, Configured
Product, Catalog Product, MTO Product), Price Category, Var 1, Var 2,
Discount, Opening, From Date and To Date. The group pane also has a
Partners Group column. Discount is a percent: type 10 for 10%. The
Price Category list shows your price groups. How the rows are matched is explained in
Customer and group line discounts.

A new row is not active yet
New rows get today as both From Date and To Date. Pricing stops using a row on its
To Date, so a new row never applies until you move the To Date forward. Also set
Series and set Item Type to Configured Product. Customer rows left at
No Selection are not matched by configured-item pricing.
Rows that differ only in Var 1, Var 2 or Discount count as duplicates
Two rows are the same row if Series, Item Type, customer or group, Price Category, Opening and both
dates are equal. Save then stops with “Partner Line Discount record duplicate!!!” (or the Group
version of that message). To keep two such rows, give them different dates.

Parts Family pane

Column What it does
Description Family name.
Price Markup / Cost Markup Shown and typed as a percent (25 = 25%).
A part uses its family markup when the part’s own markup is 0. The price markup only matters
for parts with no list price that are priced as marked-up cost.
Include In Price / Include In Cost Off: parts of this family add
nothing to the item price or cost.
Discountable Off: parts of this family never take a customer or group line discount.
Price Group, Cost Group, Price Matrix Markup, Cost Matrix Markup Stored with the family. No reader was found in item pricing: parts are priced with their own
price and cost group.

A series can override these family values through its own part-family-by-series settings.

Worked example — dealer group gets 12% off a series

Step Where Value Why
1 Partners Group pane “Dealers” (exists, not Deleted) The customers who should get the discount get Group = Dealers on their More pane.
2 Partners Group Line Disc. pane, new row Partners Group = Dealers, Series =
“Vinyl 700”, Item Type = Configured Product, Price Category = <your price group>,
Discount = 12
One row covers every customer in the group. 12 means 12%.
3 Same row, dates From = today, To = 2099-12-31 The killer
gotcha: a new row starts with To = today and never applies. Push the To Date out.
4 Edit → Save   Save deletes and rewrites all group
rows — make sure nobody else is editing them right now.
5 Result A $500 Vinyl 700 line for a Dealers customer prices at $440
— if the line’s parts are in a family left Discountable in the Parts Family pane.

Export and Import (CSV)

Export writes every row now in the table, including unsaved edits, as a CSV file with
no header line. It writes ids, not names. It does nothing when the table is empty.

Pane Columns, in order
Partners Line Disc. series id, item type id, price category id, Var 1, Var 2,
discount, opening id, from date, to date (dates as MM/dd/yyyy)
Partners Group Line Disc. series id, item type id, group id, price category id,
Var 1, Var 2, discount, opening id, from date, to date

Item type ids: 0 No Selection, 1 Configured Product, 101 Catalog Product, 3 MTO Product.

Import reads the same layout and adds the rows to the table. Customer-pane rows
always go to the customer you opened. Nothing is stored until you press Save.

Import ignores the dates in the file
Every imported row gets today as both From Date and To Date, so it is inactive until you change the
To Date. Every line is read as data, so do not add a header line. A value that is not a number stops
the import at that line; lines before it stay in the table.

What Save does

Save runs in this order:

  1. Deletes this customer’s Pricing Group links and writes the table back.
  2. Creates or updates the Partners Group list.
  3. Checks for duplicates, deletes this customer’s line discounts and writes the table back.
  4. Checks for duplicates, deletes all group line discounts, for every group, and writes the table back.
  5. Re-saves every row of the Parts Family table.
Save rewrites every group line discount
The group pane holds the company-wide list as it was when you opened the screen. If a colleague
saved group discounts after that, your Save overwrites their changes. Only one person at a time
should edit group line discounts. If a duplicate check fails, the earlier steps are already saved
and the later ones are not.
Save also re-saves every part family
All part families are written back on every Save, even untouched ones. This screen does not carry
the family’s welding flag or image. In the current version, saving here clears both on every family.
If you use them, edit part families with the Parts Families button of the Stock Management
screen instead (administrators only).
