How Can We Help?
Discount levels replace the order’s single % / $ discount with numbered levels. Each
level holds a discount and a standard commission per series or part family. Turn them on in
Administration and Setup → Company Preferences with Use discount factor levels
(group Pricing & rounding). There is no screen to edit the level table today; your OpenJanela
administrator sets it up.
What, where, who, when, why
| What | A numbered-level scheme: each (level, series or part family) row holds a discount fraction and a standard-commission fraction. Typing a level number on an order applies those percents to every line at once. |
| Where | Enabled by the Use discount factor levels preference; the table itself is administrator-maintained (no screen). Used on the order’s discount area (level box + …). |
| Who | Pricing management defines levels; order entry just types the number. The customer-facing equivalent is the customer’s Discount / Factor field (below). |
| When | When the company prices by numbered deal levels instead of a single typed % — e.g. Level 1 = 30% off + 5% commission for everyone on a series. |
| Why it matters | One number drives both the discount and the sales rep’s commission on every line, consistently, and a missing row stops the order with “PValid Factor Required!” rather than pricing wrong. |
The level table
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Level | Level number, typed on the order. |
| Is series | Yes: the row is for a series (configured items). No: the row is for a part family (other lines). |
| Series (or part family) | The series id, or the part family id when Is series is No. |
| Discount | A fraction of the line value: 0.30 = 30%. |
| Std commission | A fraction: 0.05 = 5%. |
Using a level on an order
With the preference on, the order’s discount area shows a level box and a … button
instead of the % and $ choices. Type a level above 0 and press …. For every active line:
- A configured item looks up the row for (level, its series, Is series = yes). Any other line
looks up (level, its part’s family, Is series = no). - If a row is missing the screen shows “PValid Factor Required!”. A level that is not a number
shows “Level Required!”. - Discount = line value × level discount, for lines marked discountable.
- Commission = (line value − that discount) × Std commission. Non-discountable
lines use the full line value.
The line value is the line’s net price × quantity. If the total discount is above 0, it
becomes the order’s discount amount and the total commission is shown in the Commission box. With
the preference on, the order also recalculates commission from the sales rep’s commission schemes
(see How commission is calculated), and that result is shown in the
same box.
Worked example — Level 2 on a two-line order
| Line | Level row | Line value | Discount | Commission |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vinyl 700 window (discountable) | (2, series Vinyl 700, is series = yes), discount 0.30, std commission 0.05 |
$1,000 | $300 | ($1,000 − $300) × 5% = $35 |
| Screen part (non-discountable) | (2, family Screens, is series = no), discount 0.30, std commission 0.05 |
$200 | $0 — not discountable | full $200 × 5% = $10 |
Order discount shown: $300; commission shown: $45. If the second line’s row were missing, the
screen would stop with “PValid Factor Required!”.
A new order starts at level 0. A reopened order shows the level stored on the order. The order entry
screen uses the level you type, but in the current version it does not write the level number back
to the order.
Customer Discount / Factor (new-order discount)
On the Financials pane of the customer form (Customer Management → customer
→ Details), choose Discount or Factor and type a percent: 10 shows as 10.00%.
When a new order is created for the customer:
| Choice | New order’s discount | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Discount | The same percent, rounded to a whole percent. | 10% → 10% off |
| Factor | 100% minus the factor: the factor is the share of the price the customer pays. |
45% → 55% off |
This is the order-level discount. It is separate from line
discounts, which are applied inside each item’s price.
