How Can We Help?
In the item designer’s Shapes panel, the two radios at the top choose what a shape is
applied to:
- Overall — the whole unit takes the shape. On a coupled unit this removes the
couplers and the unit becomes one shaped frame. - Frame — only the frame you click takes the shape. The couplers stay, and the other
frames keep their own shape.
To shape one column of a coupled unit: click the Frame radio, pick the shape, click
the frame you want to change, set its dimensions in the dialog and press Set.
If you change the unit’s width or height afterwards, a frame that was shaped this way goes
back to a rectangle. This is deliberate: many shapes do not fit the new size, so the
frame is not left with a shape that is silently wrong. Re-apply the shape after resizing.
Straight-sided shapes such as a lean-to, applied with Frame, are kept while you work on
the item. A curved shape (arch) on one frame of a coupled unit reverts to a rectangle
when the design is rebuilt.
Arches that are too tall for their width
An arch without legs can only be so tall: the plain arch can be at most half the width
high (exactly half is a half round), and a quarter arch at most the width high (exactly
the width is a quarter round). If the unit is taller than that, the system warns
Height > Width – Shape Will automatically be reset! and applies the same arch
on legs instead, so it fills the unit. Adjust the arch rise afterwards if needed.
The elliptical shapes under Other Shapes stay greyed out even when the
series lists them. They will be switched on once they have been fully tested.
