How Can We Help?
This chapter explains, without legal language, how OpenJanela licensing
works: what you buy, what you may do, what you may not do, and what happens if a
subscription lapses. It is a plain-words summary only — your signed agreement always
governs.
The three editions
| Edition | Where it runs | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | OpenJanela’s servers (North America) | A hosted service: you sign in and work; we run, back up, and update everything. Order entry, quoting and the web configurator, with production launched one order at a time. |
| Pro | Your own server | The full system — advanced batching, shop-floor screens, financials (Odoo / QuickBooks), purchasing, inventory, the dealer container — with optional modules added from the module store. |
| Enterprise | Your own server | Pro, plus the source code and the right to modify it privately and keep your changes to yourself. |
Optional modules and the module store
Capabilities such as machine and EDI feeds, the AI suite, the dealer container and
the mobile app are sold as optional modules. You browse them with prices in the
Account → Modules area (from the OpenJanela web client; if you work through
Odoo, from the OpenJanela → Account & Modules menu). Buying a module
attaches it to your license and turns it on server-side — no reinstall. Setup of a
module you bought still happens where all product setup happens: the Administration
area of the OpenJanela desktop client.
The AI suite is bring-your-own-key: it connects to your own AI-provider
account. Your prompts, drawings and data never pass through OpenJanela servers, and
AI features you own keep working independently of subscription standing.
What you can always do
- Run it on your own machines for as long as you want. Self-hosted editions
have no expiry, no phone-home and no kill switch — the software does not stop if it
cannot reach us. - Your data is yours. Orders, customers, pricing, and the rules you author
belong to you at every tier, never to us. - Your changes are yours (Enterprise). Modify the source privately; keep the
changes to yourself forever. If you offer a change back to OpenJanela and it is
declined, nothing breaks — your system keeps running and you still receive
future releases on the same terms as everyone else.
What you may not do
- Give, sell or publish OpenJanela’s own code to anyone else.
- Operate it as a hosted service for other companies — the hosted Basic service is
OpenJanela’s alone. - Market your own product under the OpenJanela name.
If a subscription lapses
A self-hosted OpenJanela never stops working because of a billing matter —
there is no remote off switch, by design and by promise.
What you lose while out of standing is the things that flow through OpenJanela:
| You keep | You lose until renewed |
|---|---|
| The software, running exactly as it is Your data and your modifications This manual and the documentation AI features you own (they run on your key) |
New releases and updates Support tickets Module purchases from the store Source-repository access (Enterprise) |
Hosted Basic is the one exception by nature: it runs on our servers, so a lapsed
subscription suspends the account until it is renewed — and your data export path is
always available if you decide to move to a self-hosted edition instead.
Support
Support is part of every active subscription and is tied to it: an out-of-standing
deployment can read the manual and knowledge base, but cannot open tickets. Renewing
restores everything above immediately.
