An end-mill (cope) shapes the end of the mullion itself so it sits tight against the frame. It
is written as a shape op (Rule Type 143 Add Op Hardware Etc.) at the mullion level and kept on the
mullion bar (Set Op on Level=? = 3), with one block for each end: X = 0 for the
start end and X = L plus an allowance for the far end. General rules:
How machining rules work.

Example C: both ends of a 3T4 T-bar mullion (series 3500 / 3501)

Sub-routine series 313 “3500/01 TBAR MILL”, rules 322–342, called from series 268
“3500” rule 262 (level Mullion). Every rule: Level Mullion, Position Vertical, Condition
None, Has Test ticked with one test: option “SERIES” = 3500 or 3501.

Rule Rule Type Value Meaning
322 Comment TBAR TOP END MILL heading
323 143 Add Op Hardware Etc. Description: EMT:2010 start the op
324 158 Set Op on Level=? Value 1 = 3 keep it on the mullion
325 153 Set Op if Side? Value 1 = 1 the start end
326 154 Set Op If Part Ref1 Description = 3T4 only the 3T4 T-bar
327 144 Set Op Pattern No. Description = EMT:2010 end-mill program, top
328 148 Set Op posX Description = 0 at the start of the bar
329–335 same block, “TBAR BOT END MILL FRAME SILL” side 2,
pattern EMH:2010, X = L+0.21875
the far (sill) end

In plain English: To end-mill both ends of a vertical 3T4 T-bar mullion so it fits against the frame, the
rule runs EMT:2010 on the mullion bar (3T4 profiles only) at the start of the bar (X = 0), and
EMH:2010 at the far end (X = L + 7/32″), when the SERIES option is 3500 or 3501.

Rules 288–302 in the same sub-routine do the same for horizontal T-bars (Position Horizontal), with the
ends at X 0 and L+0.40625.

Build your own

  1. Level Mullion (or Meeting Rail for a rail); Position Vertical or Horizontal; Condition
None to mill every such bar, or L/T Out / R/B Out to mill only an end that meets the frame
(L/T In / R/B In for an end that stops on another bar, which often needs a different cope).
  2. Rule Type 143 Add Op Hardware Etc.; then Set Op on Level=? = 3 for a mullion
    (4 for a meeting rail).
  3. Set Op if Side? = 1 for the start end, 2 for the far end, one block each.
  4. Reference of the mullion profile; the end-mill pattern your machine uses; Set Op posX = 0
or L plus the allowance the program needs (for example, 7/32″ vertical, 13/32″
    horizontal).
  5. Add the same test to every rule if only some products get the cope.
Not confirmedOn a mullion bar, side codes 1 /
2 behave like “start end” / “far end” in the example data, but this was not
confirmed in the code, and which physical end is the “start” was not checked on a printed cut list. Also
not isolated: the exact difference between level codes 3 (mullion) and 4 (meeting rail).
Check your first unit’s cut list before relying on it.
Cope missing? An op with no pattern is dropped; the mullion part
must carry the Reference in rule 154; and a test that fails on one rule of the block breaks the whole op. See
Troubleshooting.
