Create and change payment terms in OJ Setup → Product Setup → Payment Terms.
Open How payment terms work at the top of the screen for a short explanation; the panel also shows
the due date an invoice dated today would get with the term you are looking at. How due dates, pay-by lines
and early-payment discounts are worked out is in Payment terms.

What, where, who, when, why

What The create/edit screen for payment terms: due-date rules,
instalments and pay-before-ship settings.
Where OJ Setup → Product Setup → Payment Terms.
Who Whoever owns credit policy — usually accounting/office
management.
When At setup, and whenever credit terms change; customers pick a
term on their record, so the list should stay short and current.
Why it matters The chosen term computes every invoice’s due date
and early-payment discount line; a mistyped day count here repeats on every invoice that
uses the term.

Working with the screen

  1. Click New to add a term, or select one and click Edit; then Save or Cancel.
  2. A term still used by customers, orders, invoices or purchase orders cannot be deleted; the
    message lists the counts. Deleting a term also deletes its pay-by lines.
Field What it does
Description The name in the customer’s Terms combo (up to 50 characters). Required and unique.
Reference A short code; used to pick the term when OpenJanela is opened from an outside program.
Type Days after invoice: due on the invoice date plus Days.
Day of month: due on Day of month in the invoice’s month or a following one — the
first that is at least Minimum days after the invoice date (0 = 30 days). Day of month must be 1 to 28;
the screen refuses other values because they stop invoices from being created.
Pay before ship An order with this term and a balance above zero cannot be added to a
shipping manifest until it is paid.
Pay-by lines Each line (Days, Day of month, Discount %) adds a date and an amount to
the invoice; the discount is the early-payment discount for paying by that date. Two lines with the same
Days and Day of month are refused.
When a change takes effectDays, Day of month and the pay-by
lines apply to invoices created from then on, including invoices of existing orders that use the term;
invoices already created keep their due date and pay-by lines. Pay before ship is checked each time an
order is added to a shipping manifest, so changing it affects existing orders with the term at once. Changing a
customer’s Terms does not change the customer’s existing orders.
