How Can We Help?
Create and change price groups in OJ Setup → Product Setup → Price Groups. Open
How a price group works at the top of the screen for a short explanation, and hover any ⓘ for help on
one field. Full details and examples are in Cost groups and price groups.
What, where, who, when, why
| What | The create/edit screen for price groups: length and area rounding, price rounding, and the markup ladder applied when a raw price becomes a sell price. |
| Where | OJ Setup → Product Setup → Price Groups. |
| Who | Pricing — the markup ladder is a margin policy. |
| When | At setup for each customer class you price differently (retail vs dealer vs contractor); revisited when margin policy changes. |
| Why it matters | Parts, options and opening-shapes all point at a price group; the group’s rounding and markups then shape every computed sell price. The full math with examples is in Cost groups and price groups. |
Working with the screen
- Click New to add a group, or select one and click Edit; then Save or Cancel.
- A group still used by parts, part families, option choices, glass types, series shapes, coupler/mullion types,
GL codes or order lines cannot be deleted; the message lists the counts.
| Section | Field | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| General | Description | Name in the Price Group combos. Required and unique. |
| Price category | Selects which customer line discounts apply to items in this group (see line discounts). |
|
| Discountable | Ticked: shipping and service charges in this group take the customer discount. | |
| Size rounding | Length rounding (mm) | Metric parts priced by length: rounded up to the next multiple of this many mm. For parts priced by area the same value is read as a code: 1 = round each side up to a whole mm / inch, 2 = up to an even one. |
| Length rounding (in) | Imperial parts priced by length, and each side of united-inch prices: up to the next multiple of this many inches. Whole numbers only. |
|
| United-inch rounding (in) | Imperial united-inch prices: width + height up to the next multiple of this many inches. Whole numbers only. |
|
| Area rounding | Parts priced by area: up to the next multiple (1 = whole, 0.5 = next half). | |
| Min area (sq ft / m²) | Parts priced by area: smallest area charged. | |
| Price rounding | Price rounding | None, Up ($12.37 → $12.40), Down ($12.37 → $12.35) or Closest (half a step or more rounds up). Runs only where the company preferences for rounding prices, discounted prices or totals are on. |
| Step | The step prices are rounded to, e.g. 0.05. 0 = whole currency units. | |
| Option markups | Price markup %, Cost markup % | Used by option choices in this group; when 0, the choice’s own markup is used. Parts take markups from their part family. |

rounding can make the item calculation never finish, so the screen refuses it. Glass prices by area use no price-group
rounding (glass price matrices keyed by area do). Users already logged in see a change after they log out and back in.
