Shop-floor documents are organised around production lines and the stations
on them, so this topic gives the vocabulary you need before assigning reports.

Production line

A production line is an ordered path an order flows through. Lines can be normal or
virtual/sub-lines, and can have a parent line. Common settings are the
description, cart size, shifts, warehouse/building, and active flag.

Min Days to Manufacture
Normally a floor — production on this line is never scheduled shorter than this many
working days, though a loaded line can take longer — and it is only applied when scheduling
forwards. If Use a standard production lead time is switched on
(Scheduling preferences) it instead becomes the production
duration itself, in both scheduling directions, and an order spanning several lines takes the
longest value among them.
Parent-line inheritance
Reports available at a station are collected from the station on the current line
and from the same station on the line’s parent line. Assign a report once on the
parent to have it show on every child line’s copy of that station.

Station

A station is one work step. Typical settings include the description, capacity and
bottleneck flag, a paperless flag, a machine-interface file, a save directory, and the
warehouse/location it belongs to. Stations are attached to a line (a line-station membership),
and a station can belong to more than one line.
