How Can We Help?
A line discount is a percent taken off the price of a part or option line while an
item is priced. You set them on the Pricing Group screen
(Customer Service → Customer Management → customer → Pricing Group).
Customer rows are in Partners Line Disc. and group rows are in Partners Group Line Disc..
The line price is multiplied by (1 − discount ÷ 100).
Order of lookup
- Pricing looks first for a matching customer row.
- It looks for a group row only when the customer result is 0: no customer row
matched, or the matching row has Discount 0. A customer row of 0% therefore cannot block a
group discount. - Part lines get no line discount when the part’s family is not Discountable
(Parts Family pane).
What must match
| Column | Customer row | Group row |
|---|---|---|
| From Date / To Date | The row applies from the From Date until the day before the To Date. On the To Date itself it no longer applies. |
|
| Series | Must be the item’s series. | Item’s series, or No Selection = any series. |
| Customer / Partners Group | This customer. | The customer’s Group, or No Selection = any group. |
| Price Category | Must match (see below). | Must match, or No Selection = any. |
| Item Type | Must be Configured Product. | Configured Product or No Selection. |
| Opening | No Selection = any opening. Otherwise a part line must belong to that opening. Option lines ignore Opening. |
|
Price Category stores one of your price groups. Part lines compare it with the part’s
price group. Option lines compare it with the Price category number of the answer’s
price group. In a standard setup the two are the same number (Base 1, Options 2, Glass 3 …), so
pick the price group the line is priced in.
Var 1 and Var 2 (option discounts)
| Setting | Effect |
|---|---|
| Var 1 = 0 | Blanket row: applies to every part and option line that matches the columns above. If several blanket rows match, the last one in the list wins. |
| Var 1 = option id, Var 2 = answer id | On a customer row it discounts that answer of that option. It takes priority over a blanket row. |
| Var 1 = option id, Var 2 = 0 | Option lines always carry their answer, so this row does not match option lines. Set Var 2 to the answer. |
Part lines are priced with no option. In the current version, any row with Var 1 set that matches
Series, customer or group, Price Category and Item Type is applied to part lines too, and it
wins over blanket rows. On group rows Var 1 / Var 2 never narrow anything: group lookups are made
without the option, so a group row with Var 1 set acts on every matching line. Give option rows
their own price category (for example Options) so they do not reach parts.
Worked example
Customer ABC Windows is in group Dealer and orders series 7100. Rows (all
Item Type Configured Product, Opening No Selection, From 01/01/2026, To 01/01/2027):
| Row | Pane | Series | Price Category | Var 1 / Var 2 | Discount |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| A | Customer | 7100 | Base | 0 / 0 | 10 |
| B | Customer | 7100 | Options | 45 (Colour) / 312 (Black) | 20 |
| C | Group: Dealer | No Selection | Options | 0 / 0 | 5 |
- A frame part in price group Base, family Discountable, $200: row A → 10% → $180.
- Colour = Black, $50, answer priced in Options: row B → 20% → $40.
- Colour = White, $50: row B needs answer 312, so no customer row matches and the result is 0.
Group row C matches → 5% → $47.50. - On 01/01/2027 none of the rows apply any more, because that is their To Date.
Other places discounts are read
- Grid parts use a stricter match: group rows need an exact series, group, price category
and item type (No Selection is not “any”), and Opening is not checked. - Glass is discounted by separate glass-pricing code with its own matching rules. Test a
glass discount on a quote before you rely on it. - Catalog parts added to an order as part items match on the part’s price category only.
A quantity discount on the part replaces the line discount when it is above 0. - Supplier (bought-out) series take the discount rows from the supplier’s database, with
your company as the customer and your group at the supplier as the group.
