How Can We Help?
In Odoo. Customers and suppliers are always created and edited in Odoo and
come to OpenJanela by themselves. OpenJanela never sends a customer or supplier to Odoo.
Add a new customer
- In Odoo, open Sales > Orders > Customers, press New and create the
company (name, address, e-mail, phone, and on the Sales & Purchase tab the
Reference if you use account numbers). A contact made elsewhere in Odoo (for example
in the Contacts app) counts as a customer only once it has a confirmed order or a posted
invoice; until then OpenJanela does not see it. - Within about 5 minutes it appears in OpenJanela under Customer Management, with
the usual defaults for a new customer (credit limit, job type, group, one address
that is both bill-to and ship-to). It has no sales rep. The customer’s currency comes
from Odoo: it is the currency of the customer’s price list (or of your Odoo company when
the customer has none), and it follows Odoo when that changes. - In OpenJanela, fill in what only OpenJanela uses: the customer type (for example
Dealer), group, terms, sales rep, discounts, and the shipping route and drop
on its ship-to address. These never go to Odoo, and Odoo never overwrites them.
Example. You create Lakeview Builders in Odoo at 9:00. At 9:05 it is in
OpenJanela. You set its route to North, drop 3, and its type to Dealer.
The next quote for Lakeview prices at dealer level and ships on the North route.
This works only after your administrator has run the first Initial sync. Before
that, new Odoo customers come in with the initial sync itself. A customer used for the first
time with Add OpenJanela item on an Odoo quotation is also created in OpenJanela at that
moment.
Add a new supplier
In Odoo, open Purchase > Orders > Vendors, press New and create the
company. OpenJanela brings it in as partner type Supplier. A contact that is only
listed as a product’s vendor and was never bought from is not picked up automatically;
the administrator’s initial sync brings it in. Then, in
OJ Setup > Parts, pick that supplier on the parts it supplies: every part needs a
supplier that exists in Odoo before its bill of materials can go to Odoo.
Change a customer or supplier
Change the name, e-mail, phone or address in Odoo. OpenJanela follows
automatically.
Do not change these fields in OpenJanela: the next change in Odoo overwrites them.
What OpenJanela refuses
- Adding, changing, copying, retyping or deleting a supplier (partner type
Supplier): This company is connected to Odoo: suppliers come from Odoo. Add or change the
supplier in Odoo. Shipping companies, referrers and contractors stay editable in
OpenJanela. - A supplier’s contacts, addresses and defaults are refused too. Linking a supplier
to a part (the part’s stock supplier) is allowed. - Customer contacts and addresses: see How do I add or
change a contact or an address.
A customer made in OpenJanela by mistake
OpenJanela still lets you create a customer, but it never reaches Odoo. Its quotes wait
on the Odoo tab as failed with Customer not in Odoo: create it in Odoo first; it will
reach OpenJanela from there. Create the same company in Odoo with the OpenJanela account
number in Odoo’s Reference field; the next import links the two instead of
making a copy, and the waiting quotes go to Odoo by themselves.
