How Can We Help?
Four smaller production screens under Administration and Setup → OJ Setup →
PRODUCTION: Line-Station Routing (which stations are on a line, in order), Shift (capacity
windows per line), Production Stages and Station Buffer.
What, where, who, when, why
| What | Four screens that complete the production picture around the line and its stations: the route (line ↔ station wiring), the shift capacity windows, the production-stage list used by rule type 88, and the fixed buffer carts used by sub-line batching. |
| Where | All four under OJ Setup → PRODUCTION. Line-Station Routing also has its own chapter, here. |
| Who | Whoever sets up production scheduling. These are planner’s screens; the shop floor never opens them. |
| When | When a line is wired to stations; when working hours change with the season (new Shift window, not an edit); when a stage list is needed for series rules; when a sub-line station needs fixed buffer carts. |
| Why it matters | The Shift windows are the only thing that turns a station’s Capacity into dated, bookable room — a bottleneck line with ticked shifts but no windows never gets scheduled. Routing membership is what scheduling validates stations against. |
Line-Station Routing
Which stations sit on a line, in visit order, with an average wait each — covered in full in
its own chapter. The short version: every station a unit’s parts are
assigned to must be on the unit’s line, or scheduling stops with “Production Line #: […],
Production Station #: […], not found. Please fix it before continuing.”, and batch reports
are generated line by line, in route sequence.
Shift
Pick a line, then add its capacity windows: Shift (1, 2 or 3), From, To and
Capacity %. Shift, From and To are required (“Shift, From and To are required.”); To cannot be before
From; windows of the same shift on the same line cannot overlap.
- When an order is scheduled, a shift that is ticked on the Production
Line is only used on dates inside one of its windows. - Inside the window, each bottleneck station offers its Capacity × Capacity % ÷ 100 for that
shift; medium- and high-priority orders may use 100%. - When the next season’s hours change, add a new window starting on the change date instead of editing
the old one.
Worked example — a two-shift line across seasons
| Window | Shift | From | To | Capacity % | What scheduling gets |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 | Apr 1 | Oct 31 | 100 | Summer: the Weld bottleneck (Capacity 250) offers 250 units per shift-1 day. |
| 2 | 2 | Apr 1 | Oct 31 | 100 | Second summer shift: another 250 on shift-2 days (line must also tick Shift 2). |
| 3 | 1 | Nov 1 | Mar 31 | 80 | Winter: shift 1 only offers 250 × 80% = 200 — a new window, not an edit, so summer history stays. |
Production Stages
A short list (ID, Description, Sequence), shown sorted by Sequence. Its only use found
is as the list of values for the Set Prod Stage rule (rule type 88) in Series rules.
Station Buffer
Fixed buffer carts with numbered slot ranges. Fields: Buffer ID, Station (required), Cart
No, Start At, End At, Next Available.
Used only for stations with the Buffer flag on lines with Has Sub-Lines. During batching:
- The rows with the matching Buffer ID are read in Cart No order (the Station field is not used to choose
them). - Each unit gets the first row whose Next Available is still between Start At and End At: cart = Cart No,
slot = Next Available, and Next Available goes up by 1. - When every row is full, all rows start again from Start At. The new Next Available values are saved, so
the next batch carries on where this one stopped.
Worked example — two buffer carts of 20 slots
| Buffer ID | Cart No | Start At | End At | Next Available |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | 1 | 1 | 20 | 1 → becomes 2 after the batch |
| 7 | 2 | 1 | 20 | 1 |
A batch of 25 units on this station gets: units 1–20 → cart 1, slots 1–20 (cart 1 is now
full); units 21–25 → cart 2, slots 1–5. Saved Next Available ends as 21 (cart 1, past its
End At, so it is skipped) and 6 (cart 2), so the next batch continues at cart 2 slot 6 — numbering
does not start over. Only when every row is past its End At do all rows reset to Start At.
