A panel is a named print context in the application — for example Order Document
Report
, Confirm Order, Quote – Order, Invoice, Purchase
Orders
or Customer Projects. When a print dialog opens, it lists exactly the reports
that have been attached to that panel. Attaching a report to a panel is therefore how you
make it printable from a given screen.

What, where, who, when, why

What The report↔panel wiring: which print dialogs (panels) a
registered report shows up in.
Where The Reports by Panel tab of
Report Management, two-list move-and-save editor.
Who Administrators; users experience it only as the contents of their
print dialogs.
When Whenever a report is registered; when a document must become
printable somewhere new or stop appearing somewhere.
Why it matters Panel membership is the only way a report becomes
printable from a screen — and with Default set, it is pre-ticked so the everyday
flow is one click.

Attaching a report to panels

On Report Management, select the report and open the Reports by Panel tab. It
shows two lists: the available panels on the left and the panels this report is
assigned to on the right.

  1. Click Edit.
  2. Move the panels you want (e.g. Order Document Report) from available to assigned.
  3. Click Save. The report will now appear in every print dialog for those panels.
Make it the everyday default
Attach the report to the right panel, then set Default on the report’s details tab. It
will be pre-ticked in the dialog, so a user just clicks Print.

Customer-specific order documents (Confirm Order and Quote – Order panels)

A manufacturer can have its own family of order documents, listed beside the standard Order in
the print dialog of a quote or a confirmed order:

Document What it prints
Custom Order The custom layout with no line-item pricing (only the totals block at the end).
Custom Order No RO Same as Custom Order, without the rough-opening (RO) row on each item.
Custom Quote w/price Same as Custom Order, plus the standard Order’s price row on each item’s first
line: Qty, Unit Price, Discount, Net Price, Total. When an order is priced by
order
the four money columns stay blank, exactly as on the standard Order document.
New Custom Quote The quote layout with the totals block (Subtotal, Discount, Taxable, taxes, Total).

On all four documents the Client: line prints the customer’s account no. before the
name (SIL001 - SILVERBACK CONSTRUCTION LTD; just the name when the account no. is
blank). Discounts print whenever they are non-zero — a negative discount (a mark-up) shows
as a negative number — and always with two decimals: the (-12.00) note beside
Subtotal on Custom Order / No RO / Quote w/price, the Discount -12.00%: row on
New Custom Quote, and the per-line Discount column on Quote w/price.
