How Can We Help?
Glass size is the opening minus the clearance on each side. Clearances, gas fill and parts on
the glass (film, setting blocks) are rules at the glass level (All Glass). Which sealed units a series can
offer at all is set on the series (Glazing Thickness), see
How to change which glass a series uses.
Glass clearance
To make 3501 glass 7 mm (20/64″) smaller than its opening on the left and right, the rule sets a clearance
on the glass sides, at All Glass, for every opening except opening 1.
| Field | 3501 (269), rule 176 |
|---|---|
| Level / Position | All Glass / Left + Right |
| Rule Type | Clearance |
| Value 1 | 700 (= 7.00 mm); imperial value 20 (= 20/64″) |
| Test | UD Opening 1, Is Not ticked |
Rule 177 does Top + Bottom (800 / 22), rule 178 does All Sides for opening 1 only (400 / 12).
tabA Clearance rule has a metric value (Value 1) and a separate imperial value. The new Rules tab saves only
the metric one. An imperial company uses the imperial value, so a clearance created or changed
there on an imperial series keeps its old imperial value (0 on a new rule). The same applies to the SU thickness and
other size-setting rule types. After saving, have the imperial value checked (the clearance list in
How to change the sash size shows it in the
sixty_fourths column)and ask OpenJanela support to set it if it is wrong.
the same side, the last one in the list with a value wins. A new rule added at the end overrides older ones.
Gas fill
To fill sealed units with argon, the rule sets gas Argon on the unit, at All Glass, unless the SU type is
one of four listed types.
| Field | Sealed Units (38), rule 39 |
|---|---|
| Level / Position | All Glass / Unit |
| Rule Type / Value 1 | Set SU Gas / Argon |
| Test | SU Type in 80600, 80601, 80602, 80603, Is Not ticked |
Parts on the glass, and their station
To put UV protection film on glass when Smart Guard is chosen, the rule adds part SHOPFILM54 by glass area,
at All Glass, when SMART GUARD is answer 2 or 3. The station rule just above sends it to glazing.
| Rule (Sealed Units, 38) | Fields |
|---|---|
| 85 | Rule Type set station, Value 1 Glazing Station, All Glass, no test |
| 86 | Rule Type Part, Value 1 SHOPFILM54 (part 40953), All Glass, Position WxH/Area, Quantity Value 1, test Shape/M Option SMART GUARD in answers 2, 3 |
Steps
- Open the series or sub-routine that holds the glass rules (for example: Sealed Units, 38, and the series itself for
clearances). - New → Level All Glass → Rule Type (Clearance, Set SU Gas,
Part…) → Position (sides for a clearance, Unit for gas, WxH/Area for an
area part) → Value 1. - Tests for opening style, SU type or option answer → Save.
- Imperial series: check the imperial clearance value as described above.
- Build an item and check the glass size and the glass BOM lines.
Checking a glass size by hand
Glass width = opening width minus the left clearance minus the right clearance; the same for height with top and
bottom. On a 3501 opening other than opening 1, rule 176 takes 20/64″ off each of left and right (40/64″
in all) and rule 177 takes 22/64″ off each of top and bottom. If the glass comes out different, list every
Clearance rule at All Glass in the series and its sub-routines: the last one that fits a side wins. Sash and
frame clearances work the same way at their own levels (sash size).
