How Can We Help?
A matrix is a lookup table: give it two inputs (a width and a height, or a colour answer and
a size) and it returns a value: a price, an adjustment, a part, an error message or another matrix. Matrices price
option choices and parts by size, give quantity discounts on a series, and pick parts by colour in rules.
Before you start
- The options used as rows or columns exist, with all their choices
(Add options and choices). If you add a choice later, the matrix must be regenerated. - For a matrix that belongs to one series, that series exists; otherwise leave Series empty.
- For a part or profile matrix used by rules, the parts exist: the cell value is a part ID.
Steps: build the matrix
- Open Administration and Setup → OJ Setup → PRODUCT SETUP → Matrix and click New.
Collapse the side menu (☰) if you need room. - Description and Type (both required). The Type decides which row and column kinds are allowed.
- Series if it belongs to one. Measure appears when an axis is a size.
- Row Axis: pick its Type, then the Option (for an option axis) or Start,
End and Step (for a size axis). Do the same for the Column Axis; its list only offers kinds
that fit. - Save once to store the header, then click Generate grid.
- Type the values into the inner cells. Right-click a cell to change its kind (Price, SubMatrix, +Row/+Column,
Error/Warning, Title). Save (“Matrix saved.”).

CautionsSaving is refused when Description or Type is missing, when
a size axis has Start not below End or Step not above 0, or when a size band is not a number. Deleting a matrix is not
blocked even when choices, parts or rules use it. The Dealer Group axis type is not wired yet; avoid it. If an option
gains or loses a choice, opening the matrix warns that the axis changed: click Generate grid again.

Check it worked
- Reopen the matrix: no “axis changed” warning, and the grid shows your values.
- On a test item, change the size (or the answer) across a band edge: the price of that choice or part steps to
the next cell’s value. - If a size falls outside the table and the Company Preferences setting for matrix out-of-range is on, the user
gets an error; extend the bands to cover every size you sell.
