How Can We Help?
One screen holds all of it: OJ Setup → Product Setup →
Warranties. The warranty list is on the left; everything on the right belongs to whichever
warranty is selected.
| Pane | What you set |
|---|---|
| Warranties (left) | The list. New / Save / Delete act on the warranty itself. |
| Details | Description (what the customer sees), Type — Standard or Extended — and Active. |
| Warranty Groups | One row per group: its Group name and its number of Days. Select a row to edit or delete it. |
| Family → Group | Maps a part family to a warranty group. This is the main mechanism — one row covers every part in that family. |
| Part exceptions | Overrides a single part to a different group, regardless of its family. Keep this list short. |
Setting up a warranty from scratch
- In the Warranties pane click New, type a Description, choose
Standard or Extended, and Save. - In Warranty Groups click New, type the Group name — typing a new
name creates the group — and set its Days. Save, and repeat for each group. - Set the Effective date — the date from which this number of days applies — and the
Days. Save. Repeat for each group the warranty covers. - In Family → Group, map each part family onto the group that should govern it.
A family with no row here produces Unmapped part on tickets. - Add Part exceptions only for individual parts that must differ from their
family.
Changing cover later: declare a new warranty
Editing a group’s Days changes the answer for every order already sold under
that warranty, and those answers drive customer invoices. To change cover from now on, declare a
new warranty with a later Effective Date and its own groups, and use it on new
orders. Orders already sold keep pointing at the warranty they were sold under.

Renaming a group
Warranty groups can be created from this screen but not renamed or retired here. If a
group name is wrong, ask your administrator to correct it directly — the mapping rows keep
pointing at the same group, so nothing else needs redoing.
