Company Preferences hold your own company’s name and address and the settings every other screen
reads: the unit system, the next quote and order numbers, rounding and scheduling. Do this first. You can come back
later for the settings that need other lists (for example the default series).

Before you start

  • Your company’s database exists and you can log in with a user that has the Company Preferences right
(normally the first administrator user that came with the new company).
  • Have the logo as an image file and both addresses (where you ship from and where you bill from).

Steps

  1. Open Administration and Setup → Company Preferences and click Edit.
  2. Title tab: type the Name (required). Double-click the logo picture to choose the image file.
Fill Website, Email, Country, State, City, ZIP/PC and
Address 1–3, and the phone numbers. Message starts the subject line of every document email,
so keep it short (your company name works). Save.
  3. Address tab: fill the Ship Address and the Bill Address. Every field is required.
The ship address country decides which weekends and holidays scheduling skips, so get it right.
    Save.
  4. Preferences tab: this tab is a long list with a search box at the top. Type a word to find a setting,
hover the ⓘ for its meaning, change it, and save. On day one set at least:

    • Default unit of measure (search “unit”): 1 = Metric, 2 = Imperial Decimal, 3 = Imperial Fraction.
New users and customers start with it.
    • Next numbers (search “next”): the next order, quote, invoice, shipping, project and credit numbers.
Set them if you are moving from another system and must carry on its numbering.
    • Rounding of line prices, order totals and discounted prices (search “round”).
    • Use NFRC if your products carry NFRC labels, and the egress minimums if you sell into a
      market that checks them.

Leave a setting alone if you do not know what it does: the defaults work. The switch for advanced settings
shows more rows; you do not need it for a first setup.

  5. Schedule tab: decide how production dates are worked out. With Use a standard production lead
    time
on, every job takes the Min Days to Manufacture of its production line; with it off, dates come
from station capacity. Also choose forward or backward scheduling. Details:
Company Preferences — field reference (section Scheduling).
  6. Leave Messages/Documents, Announcements and Discount for later; they are covered in
    Assign reports to stations and
    Announcements and Messages & Documents.
  7. Optional: the AI Assistant tab, if you want the in-app assistant. See
    Company Preferences — field reference.
Weekends and holidaysIf the ship address country has no weekend
entry, Saturdays and Sundays count as working days in every date OpenJanela works out. The weekend and holiday lists
have no screen; ask your administrator to add them for your country (see
Lists your administrator sets up).

Come back later for

  • Default series for new line items: set it after you have made a series.
  • Messages 1–6 on the Title tab: the standard quote and production-order layouts print Message 1 and 2.

Check it worked

  • Close Company Preferences and open it again: your values are still there.
  • In the smoke test (Check a new setup works) the printed quote shows your logo,
name and address in the header.
