How Can We Help?
A series is a product line, for example a casement window or a patio door system. It says
which shapes and openings can be built, its sizes and units, how openings and designs are priced, and (through its
rules) which parts go into it. A sub-routine is a series that is never sold; it holds rules or options that
several series reuse. Make the sub-routines first, then the series.
Before you start
- Parts, options with their choices, and matrices exist (parts,
options, matrices). - The Category list is filled (no screen: Lists your administrator sets up).
- Price groups exist for openings and couplers; suppliers exist for a bought-out series.
- Choose your path: start from scratch, Copy a similar series, or use Guided series setup.
Steps: sub-routines (if the series reuses rules)
- Open Administration and Setup → OJ Setup → PRODUCT SETUP → Sub-Routines and click
New. - On the Header tab pick Rules Sub-Routine (a library of part rules, for example “frame parts”) or
Options Sub-Routine (a bundle of option rules). Fill Name and Description. Save. - Add its rules on its Rules tab (Add rules to a series). A series calls it
later with one rule.
Steps: the series
- Open OJ Setup → PRODUCT SETUP → Series. Click New (or select a similar series and click
Copy: header, shapes, openings, designs, coupler/mullions and rules are all copied). - Header tab: Name, Description, Active, Made In (untick for a bought-out
series and fill the Supplier panel), Category, Lead Time, Metric or Imperial,
the size Grid (ideal, min and max width and height), Default Opening and Frame Depth.
Save. The other tabs open once the series is saved and selected. - Shapes tab: tick the shapes this series can be built in, Save shapes.
- Openings tab: tick the opening types (fixed, casement, slider…), Save openings.
- Open/Shape tab: for each opening type, its price (flat Price or a Matrix, with
$ UOM and $ Group) and its size limits. Name and Opening type are required. - Family and Designs tabs: your standard designs, priced flat or by matrix.
- Coupler/Mullion tab: the coupler and mullion types, the part used and their price.
- RO Adj: rough-opening adjustments. Glazing Thickness: the sealed-unit thicknesses allowed
(Add Range). - Rules tab: offer the options and add the parts (Add rules to a series).
CautionsThe sub-routine radio moves a record between the Series and
Sub-Routines screens when you save. Saving Shapes or Openings replaces the whole set. Delete on a series is a soft
delete that cannot be undone from the screen.

Hidden while you workGuided series setup keeps a series hidden from
order entry until it is signed off. A series made directly on this screen is offered as soon as it is Active, so keep
Active off until the smoke test passes if users are already quoting.

Check it worked
- Start a test item in the series: the shapes and openings you ticked are offered and nothing else.
- Sizes outside the grid and the Open/Shape limits are refused or warned.
- The opening price matches the flat price or matrix cell you set.
