A part is anything that goes into a product or onto an order: a profile, a screw, a glass
sheet, a labour item. Rules, option choices and glass types all point at parts, so parts come before them. Add one
part at a time on the Parts screen, or many at once from a spreadsheet.

Before you start

Steps: one part by hand

  1. Open Administration and Setup → OJ Setup → PRODUCT SETUP → Parts and click
New (+). The ID shown is a preview; the server gives the real ID when you save.
  2. Header Details: Stock Code and the description (both required), Type (what kind of part
it is), Family, Waste (%), Costing Method, Stock UOM (the unit you stock and buy in)
and Usage UOM (the unit it is used and priced in). Leave Stocked ticked for stock items. Tick
Made In for parts you make, Sell for parts that can be sold on their own.
  3. Dimensions & Limits (profiles): pick the Profile Shape and fill Dim A to
Dim D, Face In, Face Out and the weld burns in both columns, Metric (mm) and
Imperial (inches). Stk->Use converts the stock unit to the usage unit.
  4. Costing & Pricing: Cost Group, Cost, Price Group, Price, Min Price.
Leave Matrix Cost and Matrix Price off for now; you tick them after you build the matrix
    (Create a price matrix).
  5. Additional Fields (optional): Prodline and Station take the line and station ID
    numbers
; Weight, Trimcut, Min Size Offcut, Discountable, Taxable, Show In Cut Sheet, Add Paint Cost and the
    other switches.
  6. Save. To make a similar part, select it and click Copy: the copy gets ” copy” added to its stock
code; change it before you save.
Empty boxes save as 0A combo left on the wrong family or group,
or a blank number, is saved without a warning. Check Family, Type, Cost Group and Price
Group
on every new part.
